genderIT.org: Calling for Writers
| 14 September 2006

GenderIT.org has been cited by readers as an important, singular website that engages with issues around gender & ICT policies. To keep this site relevant to your diverse realities, genderIT.org is building a pool of writers who can contribute on a freelance basis. We hope that you will join us, and share your knowledge and experience in connecting advocates and activists with emerging thoughts, current news, upcoming events and unsung champions in the field of gender and ICTs from all pockets of the world.

The GenderIT.org pool of writers is open for advocates, journalists, bloggers, researchers, and people working in the field of gender, development, communication rights and/or ICT polices. Applicants should be:

- proficient in Spanish and/or English,
- have good writing skills and a good grasp of women’s and media and/or communication rights in their region,
- some ability to offer a feminist/gender analysis on ICT policy issues and processes is also desirable, although this capacity can be improved within the working process with GenderIT.org and WNSP team.

Applicants from all regions are encouraged, in order to increase the diversity of voices, issues, geographical representation and backgrounds. Payment rates will depend on the kind of articles, issues covered and level of analysis.

In order to apply, please submit the following information:
- your interest in joining the team
- your experiences in the gender and/or ICT polices, and the priority areas of focus related to this area
- a sample of your work (article, research or analytical writing especially if it is related to the themes covered by genderIT.org),
- your CV

Please send a short email in English or Spanish with all details outlined above to genderit@apcwomen.org with the subject line “Application: Pool of writers” before September 29th.
