ACT Women Performing in Ladyfest in Vienna
Zoe Gudovic | 14 October 2005

Vienna is hosting another Ladyfest from October 7 - 10. Please check out the Ladyfest web site for detailed program information. ACT Women ACT’s performance is closing the festival on the 9th of October. You have to see it!!!

Ladyfest is a platform of expression for feminist, queer and transgender culture. Its origins derive from the “do it yourself” culture of the riotgrrrl movement. The term “grrrl” was originally intended to express a rebellious attitude. When the ideology behind “grrrl was introduced it was transformed by the music business into its commercialized form “girlie”. In response, former riotgrrrls appropriated the term “lady” as a better suited label to express feminist political ideas.
