Her name is Nataša Stevanićand she is extremely strong and ambitious, heading firmly towards a big career in ICT. After graduating in Electrical Engineering and Computing, her next challenge was to find a job as an engineer. The positions offered to a women in the telecom industry in Belgrade are mainly in sales, away from the switches and routers she likes so much. So she started in sales and forced the switch herself; within 4 months ago she succeeded in getting a position in the technological field and today she is once more improving her technical knowledge.
Back to inner self
During her education in a male-dominated environment she neglected her women’s side, trying to present herself as a part of the group. Rethinking her own identity, she joined a group of women that started the WITT project as an initiative to improve woman participation in ICT. Her personal interest was not in the first place political, but rather intended as a contribution of her organizational and technical skills.
She’s very proud to emphasize that she, together with Milica, is the person in charge of the fast-growing WITT website.
In 2001 she was a support person for the first women’s ICT training held in Serbia, the training that set WITT in motion. Today she is TEE coordinator, interconnecting needs of local woman to the training and activities provided by the WITT projects. A good place for someone who loves switches and routers.
She thinks that encouraging women in ICT and forming a woman-only space is very important, so she plans to proceed with her colleagues to work on the WITT agenda.
In the meantime she dances, does fitness exercise, tries to become a DJ and laughs a lot! |
